| Belief Overview: | |
| The Sikh faith is the worlds fifth largest religion and one of the world's youngest monotheistic faiths at over 500 years old. Even though the Sikh faith was born in the Punjab region of northern India, Sikhs are neither Muslim or Hindu, but practice their own unique faith and relate to their own unique scriptures. Sikhs believe in the concepts of Simran and Seva. Simran is always keeping your focus on God and keeping God in your heart at all times. Seva is the act of serving your fellow humanity. Sikhs believe in total equality of all beings and respect for all of life. We believe that if you can't see God in all, you can't see God at all. | |
| Demographics: | |
There are over 24 million Sikhs worldwide, the vast majority of which are of Indo/Asian decent. Sikhs are hard working democratic Americans who believe in freedom and equality for all and will stand in defense of their freedom and the freedom of all Americans. |

| Facts: | |
| Observant Sikhs are easy to
identify, as it is a requirement of the faith to keep their hair uncut
(resulting in a full beard) and wear a turban whenever in public. Other symbols of the Sikh faith are a steel bangle (representing their attachment to God), a comb (representing cleanliness and care of the body temple), a special undergarment to symbolize chastity, and a small sword or dagger, which stands for a Sikhs willingness to stand for righteousness and protect the weak and the innocent. |
